MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE identified Celtic teenager Kieran Tierney as a long-term solution to their left-back problems, according to reports.

The 19-year-old, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury, is the subject of increasing interest from the Premier League side with Old Trafford scouts monitoring his progress.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal have also expressed their interest in the Scottish international, according to The Sun and The Mirror.

Tierney has impressed under Brendan Rodgers this season and would likely cost United at least £10 million to acquire his services.

Man City, meanwhile, have told Barcelona they are willing to pa £100 million to sign Lionel Messi, according to The Sun.

The newspaper says the clubs have held initial talks but City have not lodged a formal bid for the Argentinian superstar.

Meanwhile, United will step-up their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann this summer, according to The Independent.

The French international is likely to cost United up to £100 million but Jose Mourinho has identified him as a key target in a bid to bolster his attacking resources.

Reports say Atletico will allow Griezmann leave the club if they can persuade Diego Costa to re-join from Chelsea. Barcelona are, however, also monitoring Costa’s situation at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas could be on his way back to Brazil with reports suggesting Atletico Mineiro are keen to bring him to the club.

German centre-back Per Mertesacker is close to agreeing a new contract with Arsenal.

The Gunners captain is on the verge of agreeing a one-year contract extension, according to Sky Sports. He is yet to play this season after undergoing knee surgery during the summer.

Edinson Cavani is set to sign a new contract at Paris Saint German, the Uruguay forward has revealed.

Cavani’s current contract with the French champions expires in 2018 and he’s expected to put pen to paper on a new deal taking him up to 2020.

“Various aspects, of which my brother has been in charge, have been finalised – I concern myself with playing football.

“I hope to continue at PSG and to do so with the same desire and the same passion. I hope to achieve great things here.”

Lyon have had an improved bid of £13 million for Man United forward Memphis Depay rejected by Man United while Christian Benteke‘s agent has denied reports linking the striker with a move to PSG from Crystal Palace.
