Martial's loan move blocked, Fabregas to Italy and all of today's transfer gossip

Plus, Leicester striker Slimani is the latest player wanted by a Chinese club.

HERE ARE THE good, the bad, and the unlikely football moves being talked about today…

Man United have blocked Anthony Martial‘s attempts to force a loan move away from the club this January, according to the Daily Express.

The Frenchman wasn’t involved in United’s squad for the 1-1 draw at Stoke and bookmakers have since slashed the odds on him leaving Old Trafford.

Martial has started just nine league games under Jose Mourinho and his camp are reportedly angered at the way the striker has been treated this season. Sevilla are one of the clubs interested in his signature.

Burnley have had a £10 million bid for Hull midfielder Robert Snodgrass accepted, according to Sky Sports.

The Scot had been linked with a move to a number of Premier League clubs but Burnley appeared to have won the race after West Ham and Middlesbrough had offers rejected.

Leicester City striker Islam Slimani is the latest Premier League star to be linked with a move to China as Tianjin Quanjian consider a €40 million move.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea are willing to break the world transfer record to bring Gareth Bale back to the Premier League, according to Marca.

Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte are preparing €200 million bids for the Real Madrid superstar, who played for Tottenham before moving to La Liga. Bale would demand a salary of €400,000 a week.

Serie A clubs Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter are all interested in Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, according to Fichajes. Despite not being a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge, Antonio Conte does not want to lose the Spain international and will demand around £25 million for his services.

Liverpool are working on a deal to bring Sporting midfielder William Carvalho to Anfield, according to A Bola. The Reds are keen to sign the Portugal international before the January transfer window ends, but must pay at least €30 million.

Manchester United winger Ashley Young has asked manager Jose Mourinho to send him out on loan in January, according to the Daily Mail.

West Ham, Swansea City and former club Watford have all been sounded out over the possibility of a move while Chinese outfit Shandong Luneng are also interested.

Manchester City have joined Liverpool and Everton in a three-way tussle for Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, according to the Sun.

The England international has been a standout performer for the Clarets in recent years and, as he is tied to a long-term contract at Turf Moor, bidding for the 30-year-old shot-stopper over the summer is expected to start at around the £15 million mark.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Birkir Bjarnason from FC Basel.

Chelsea will go head-to-head with Manchester United this summer as Conte has identified Benfica’s Victor Lindelof as a prime transfer target, according to the Daily Mirror.

Mourinho’s side had been close to an agreement with the Portuguese club over the signing of the 22-year-old Swedish centre-back, but interest from other parties will allow Benfica to drive up their asking price.

Former Blackburn defender Chris Samba is on trial at Crystal Palace after he had his contract terminated at Panathinaikos. The 32-year-old worked under Sam Allardyce previously at Ewood Park.

Retro Deal of the Day

Not exactly retro, but this day three years ago Juan Mata completed his move to Old Trafford. David Moyes is not remembered fondly for many things by United fans, but signing the Spaniard is certainly one highlight.

The midfielder moved to Old Trafford from Stamford Bridge on 25 January 2014, for what was then a club-record fee of £37.1million. Mata has gone onto make 131 appearances in all competitions and has won the FA Cup with the Red Devils.
