Sanchez staying put at Arsenal, Martial on loan to Roma and all of today's transfer gossip

Arsene Wenger wants Sanchez to sign a new contract despite the player favoring a move to Manchester City.

HERE ARE THE good, the bad, and the unlikely football moves being talked about today…

The only name in town on Tuesday afternoon was James Rodriguez. The Colombian re-joined ex-boss Carlo Anchelotti at Bayern Munich on a two year loan deal after falling out of favor with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

Meanwhile Liverpool made their second signing of the window with the aquisition of England U20 prospect Dominic Solanke from Chelsea.

But in the land of uncertainty, speculation, incomplete moves and unsigned contracts, the future of Alexis Sanchez has become a topic of discussion yet again.

The Independent report that Arsene Wenger is adamant to nail his star man down to a new contract amid continued interest from Manchester City, noting that the Chilian may be denied his much-sought after reunion with former manager Pep Guardiola.

According to The Sun the Gunners will also give Liverpool competition for the signature of Virgil van Dijk, but may struggle without the allure of Champions League football amid interest from both Man City and Chelsea for the Dutch defender.

The Mirror reports that Roma are keen to sign Anthony Martial on a loan deal from Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho’s side may not bite on the season-long loan and are reportedly holding out for a permanent move in the region of €33 million if they are to let the 21-year-old go.

After failing to bring Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are increasing their interest in Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata. Antonio Conte may have to fork out €78 million for the 24-year-old.

While Sky Sports say that Chelsea are also closing in on Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. They report that the player will have a medical before the week is out and may sign in time to meet up with team-mates in China on Monday.

Retro Deal of the Day: Samir Nasri to Arsenal

On this day in 2008 the highly-rated 21-year-old playmaker signed for the Gunners from Marseille.

The player impressed during his tenure in Ligue 1 and made two appearances for France at Euro 2008 before moving for €13 million that summer.

Dubbed the new Zinedine Zidane at the time of his move, Nasri would go on to make 86 appearances for Arsenal but earn no silverware before a 2011 move to Manchester City.

Nasri joined Marseille at 9-years-old and had won the French First Division’s Young Player of the Year award in 2007.

The player had scored six goals in 30 appearances in Ligue 1 in 2006/07 and was signed as a replacement for Alexander Hleb who departed for Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona just five days later.
