Newcastle United are after an Irish defender and the rest of today's best transfer news

Liverpool look set to seal another major signing too.

HERE’S YOUR DAILY dose of transfer gossip as the madness of the summer transfer window begins and who better to guide us through the latest wheelin’ and dealin’s than ‘Arry himself.

Just don’t use the words wheelin’ or dealin’, alright?

Buying Irish: Irish defender Richard Keogh may be on the move this summer with Newcastle United interested in the Derby centre half. Steve McClaren is keen to reunite with his former player and the 28-year-old will command a fee of about €5.5 million. West Brom are also interested according to the Guardian.

Pay the price: West Ham are said to be closing in on French forward Dimitri Payet, with the Hammers looking to seal a €15 m deal for the Marseille playmaker. It would be quite the coup for the London club; Payet was top of the assists chart in Ligue 1 last season.

More signings: Liverpool have been the most active club so far in this transfer window and they are reportedly looking to bring in two more players soon. Reporters on Merseyside are claiming a €15 million deal is close to going through for Nathaniel Clyne, while they will push to sign in-demand Colombian forward Carlos Bacca for €30m.

Musical chairs: It looks as if the potential transfer of Sergio Ramos to Manchester United could spark a transfer merry-go-round this summer. The Daily Mirror report that Real Madrid will replace the Spaniard with Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny. They say that Rafa Benitez’s side have launched a €30m bid. The paper also reports that United have made a €42m bid for Ramos.

Busy boys: Inter Milan seem to be stealing players from the grasp of English clubs for fun this summer and they may have two more coveted players on the way to Italy soon. Atletico Madrid centre-back Joao Miranda has batted his eyelids at the 2010 European champions, while they are also close to finalising a deal for Arsenal and Southampton target Giannelli Imbula to join recently acquired midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Coming home: It looks like Carlos Tevez is on his way home to Argentina after Juventus and Boca Juniors agreed a €5m deal according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian newspaper also says that the Old Lady will have first refusal on talented youngster Guido Vadala should he turn out to be rather good.

Audacious: We can’t see this one happening, but it would be brilliant if it did. The Sun are reporting that Stoke are on the verge of sealing a sensational €12.5m deal for Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri. Inter Milan only signed him in January so that fee seems very low for a player of his ability.

Offloaded: Spurs look like they may be able to get rid of some of the deadwood from their disastrous 2013 transfer window as Watford are keen on midfielder Etienne Capoue. The Hornets may have to pay a good chunk of Spurs’ €15m outlay on the French man to secure his services however.

Wants out: It’s a case of déjá vu this summer as Morgan Schneiderlin is looking for an escape route from Southampton according to the Daily Telegraph. They say that Louis Van Gaal is looking for a right-footed midfielder this summer and the French enforcer fits the bill but could cost in excess of €35m.
