Liverpool to pay €10m for Championship defender and all today's transfer gossip

A Spanish international is also undergoing a medical at Southampton and Spurs are linked with a Barcelona defender.

HERE’S YOUR DAILY dose of transfer gossip as the madness of the summer transfer window begins and who better to guide us through the latest talks, hoodwinks and handshakes than ‘Arry himself.

Just don’t use the words wheelin’ or dealin’, alright?

Oh Mi: Young Spanish striker Juanmi is set to join Southampton according to Sky Sports. The 22-year-old’s €7million buy-out clause was met by Southampton on Sunday and he will now undergo a medical at St Mary’s. The Malaga striker scored eight goals in 34 appearances last season, and also made his international debut in March.

Young gun: Liverpool are close to securing the €10million signing of Charlton younster Joe Gomez, according to the Daily Mirror. Despite only making 21 league starts in his career, Charlton feel they can command a big fee for the 18-year-old defender, who Liverpool will use to replace the out-going Sebastian Coates.

He’s back: In a move that will excite Everton fans, but worry Aidan McGeady, Gerard Deulofeu looks set to return to Merseyside. The 21-year-old Barcelona winger enjoyed a fine loan spell with the club in the 2013-14 season and is keen to return on a long-term deal. Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague says Barcelona will have a buy-back option on the €3million deal.

Bye bye Balotelli: Mario Balotelli’s ill-fated spell on Merseyside could be set to come to an end if Corriere dello Sport are to be believed. Sampdoria are interested in bringing him back to Italy on loan, and will look to split his wage bill with Liverpool.

Money talks: The Daily Mirror are reporting that Paris Saint-Germain will offer Petr Cech a mega contract offer to lure him to Paris. They will tempt the Chelsea keeper with a €54million contract that will see him tied to the club until he is 38. Elsewhere, Tomas Rosicky wants his international team-mate to join him at Arsenal.

Playing time: Another Spaniard that we may well see in the Premier League next season is Barcelona centre-back Marc Bartra. His agent confirmed to Sky Sports News that there is interest in the player coming from England. Spurs are the club most strongly linked with the 24-year-old, who is seeking first-team football. Tottenham have already signed Austrian centre-back Kevin Wimmer this summer.

From Russia with love: Alex Witsel is supposedly keen to get out of Russia, where he won the league title with Zenit St. Petersburg last season. The Belgian midfielder is attracting interest from both Manchester United and Chelsea, but Juventus are also said be keen on the 26-year-old.

Familiar face: The Daily Express report that Louis Van Gaal is hoping to replace the seemingly out-going David De Gea with Dutch keeper Jasper Cillessen. Van Gaal has worked with the Ajax stopper before and is the first choice on a list of candidates to take over from the Spaniard. If the move goes through, United best avoid conceding too many penalties.

Stellar signing: The Daily Telegraph report that Sevilla’s holding midfielder, Grzegorz Krychowiak, has alerted clubs around Europe by appointing the Stellar Group as his new representatives. Arsenal are being strongly linked with the player, as Wojciech Szczesny is also a client of Stellar Group. He has a buy-out clause of €30million.
