ON MAY 19, some of the best teams in Ireland will take to the field at Lansdowne Rugby Club for the Cadbury #BoostYourAwareness Touch Rugby Blitz.
And so will our adopted side, Team42. Based in Donnybrook, this plucky bunch responded to The42′s call out for touch rugby amateurs willing to let us run the rule over them.
Although the majority of the team have only been playing together for less than three months, they’ve had some time to get to know each other – as you can see from the video above.
For the next week, we’ll be tracking this squad of beginners and sharing our expertise in the hope of transforming them into a crack touch rugby machine with a real chance at winning the blitz.

We’ve already put the team through a few basic drills – watch the video below to see how they got on.
But to really boost their performance, we’re going to provide them with some top class coaching from former Ireland international Tania Rosser. As well as having three World Cup campaigns and a defeat of New Zealand on her impressive CV, Tania is also an international touch rugby player.
The Team42 members Tania will be coaching are:
Dylan Finlay, Middle
Robin Neiland, Middle
Chris Donaldson, Middle
Jamie Pearson Evans, Middle
James O’Donnell, Middle
Rebecca Phelan, Link/Wing
Louise Deering, Link/Wing
Ellie Boyce, Link
Rachel Speer, Link
Lexi Staffurth, Link
Kelan Ó Nualláin, Link
We’ll be keeping you updated on their progress over the next 10 days but, if you’re wondering how much improvement is needed, here’s how Team42 got on when tasked with the crossbar challenge at De La Salle, Palmerston last week:
