NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS quarter-back Tom Brady threw his support behind Donald Trump’s presidential campaign today, stating it would be “great” if the maverick tycoon ended up in the White House.
Brady, who has long been on friendly terms with the Republican presidential hopeful, was speaking to reporters as Trump prepared to debate rival challengers in California.

Asked if he believed Trump — regarded as a rank outsider in the Republican presidential race but leading opinion polls — had what it takes to win, Brady replied: “I hope so.”
“It would be great. There would be a putting green on the White House lawn, I’m sure of that,” Brady added.
Brady had already fuelled speculation about his links to Trump after one of the candidate’s signature campaign baseball caps bearing the slogan “Make America Great Again” was seen in his locker earlier this month.
Trump, meanwhile, had staunchly defended Brady during the “Deflate-gate” saga, which saw the four-time Super Bowl-winning quarter-back hit with a four-game suspension before it was overturned by a federal judge.
“He’s a great guy, for those of you who don’t know him,” Trump said.
“He’s an honorable guy and an honest guy and a truly great athlete. He is really a very good friend of mine.”
