TJ Reid reflects on Kilkenny’s All-Ireland final victory.

KILKENNY WON THEIR 11th All-Ireland senior hurling title in 16 seasons today but forward TJ Reid says they’re still not done.

Reid scored 1-7 as the Cats recorded a 1-22 to 1-18 win over Galway in this afternoon’s decider at Croke Park.

The 27-year-old Ballyhale man played a starring role once again as he collected his seventh All-Ireland medal.

“Listen to the crowd. This is everything,” Reid told RTÉ afterwards. “When you put your bodies on the line, you train for 10 months of the year, all for today. To win this All-Ireland is unbelievable, so it is. Unbelievable.”

Kilkenny trailed by 0-14 to 1-8 at half-time but they turned in a superb performance in the second period, restricting Galway to just 1-4 as the Tribesmen’s wait for a first title since 1988 continues for at least another year.

“At half-time we realised our first-half wasn’t good enough, and it wasn’t, so we knew we had to up the pace in the second-half,” said Reid. “We did that and I think 1-to-15, and the subs who came on, made a massive effort. It’s unbelievable.”

Reid added: “There’s a talented bunch of players still here and we’re here for a long time, so we are.”

Should Galway’s Johnny Coen have been sent off for this high tackle?
