Callanan shot an incredible 0-13 – including 0-9 from play – as Tipperary landed the All-Ireland title in early September with the Drom-Inch man also claiming the man-of-the-match award in that win over Kilkenny.
Durcan did not achieve All-Ireland glory but was one of Mayo’s star performers over the course of their two final clashes against Dublin. The Castlebar Mitchels man has been one of Mayo’s best discoveries over the past two seasons.
The other hurling players nominated were Callanan’s Tipperary teammates John McGrath and Ronan Maher while Dublin duo Brian Fenton and Michael Fitzsimons were also in the running for the football award.
