Brendan Maher, Corbett and Callanan hit key scores as their clubs advance to Tipperary semi-finals

Meanwhile in Cork the 2013 hurling champions have been dumped out by Jamie Barron and UCC.

Tipperary

A LATE GOAL from Niall Kenny sent north champions Borris-Ileigh into the Tipperary SHC semi-finals at the expense of Loughmore Castleiney, joining Thurles Sarsfields, Drom-Inch and Eire Og Anacarthy in the last four.

Loughmore Castleiney led by 0-11 to 0-10 at the interval, with all their scores coming from the McGraths - John (3), Aidan (2), Ciaran (2), Liam (2) and Noel.

County midfielder Brendan Maher posted three points for Borris-Ileigh, while Kenny hit the net in the 55th minute to leave them in control. John McGrath goaled from a last-gasp free but it wasn’t enough and his side exited the championship on a scoreline of 1-18 to 1-17.

In the curtain-raiser at Semple Stadium, Joe Maher and Seamus Callanan scored the goals as Drom & Inch enjoyed a 2-25 to 1-14 win over Rossmore.

On Saturday, Thurles Sarsfields enjoyed a 3-26 to 1-22 win over Kilruane MacDonagh after extra-time, with Denis Maher, Lar Corbett and Pa Bourke among the goals.

Eire Og Anacarthy defeated Mullinahone by 2-13 to 1-15 in the first quarter-final of the weekend.

Cork

Midleton have been dumped out of the Cork senior hurling championship by UCC in tonight’s Round 4 clash at Páirc Uí Rinn.

UCC, who last lifted the title in 1970, will now face Sarsfields in the quarter-final to complete next weekend’s last eight line-up.

In an enthralling clash, scores from Conor Lehane and Luke O’Farrell left Midleton leading by 1-20 to 1-18 with a minute of normal time remaining. But the students finished strong, with Mark Coleman, Colm Spillane and Jamie Barron all on target as the eked out a narrow 1-22 to 1-20 win.
