One game, one goal, that's a good ratio, says Villa boss Sherwood
Despite losing his first game in charge, the manager is happy with his record so far, and he wants his side to step it up in the final weeks of the Premier League season.
TIM SHERWOOD FEELS he has got off to a good start at Aston Villa, despite losing his only game in charge so far, and believes six more wins will keep them in the Premier League this season.
A late Victor Moses penalty for Stoke City doomed Villa to a 2-1 defeat in Sherwood’s first game in charge after Ron Vlaar was sent off for a foul on the forward.
Villa sit second bottom of the table with just five wins and 13 goals to their name and Sherwood, whose side visit Newcastle on Saturday, is under no illusions as to what they need to stay up, but is happy with how things are going.
“It’s a work in progress now and I am just trying to identify the strengths and weaknesses as soon as possible,” he told reporters.

“I’ve managed one game and we’ve scored one goal – good ratio. Is it a bigger challenge than I thought? No.
“We have won five league games all season; we need to win six more to stay in the division. The reality has to kick in that we are in a dogfight here and we need points as soon as possible. “I’m learning all the time about the guys. If we can get as many points as possible, we are going to fail trying, that’s for sure.”
