Woods doesn't know if he'll return this year.

'I want to play, I don't know if I will' - Tiger casts fresh doubts over future

It’s becoming increasingly unlikely that we’ll see the 14-time Major winner return in 2016.

FOR ANYONE FOLLOWING the ongoing Tiger Woods saga regarding the status of his surgically repaired back, the latest update was not a positive one.

Speaking at Congressional Country Club on Sunday, the site of this week’s Quicken Loans National won by Billy Hurley III, Woods stated that he is still not sure when he can play a competitive round of golf.

The 40-year-old American – winner of 14 majors – has not played in a PGA Tour event since August 2015, when he finished tied for 10th at the Wyndham Championship.

“I don’t know,” said Woods, who was the host of this week’s PGA Tour event.

“I want to play. Put it that way. I want to play. I don’t know if I will. But I do want to. But I’m trying. I’m trying each and every day I’m doing my workouts. … I’m working my tail off.”

Most importantly, Woods is just trying to avoid going under the knife again.

“I’m going to do it right so I don’t have another surgery,” Woods said.

“I’m just playing it week to week, and I keep getting better. I keep getting physically better. I just hope that everything clicks in and I can do it sooner rather than later.”
