This guy will replace Jurgen Klopp as Borussia Dortmund manager

41 year-old Thomas Tuchel made his name at Mainz but has spent the last twelve months on sabbatical.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND HAVE confirmed that Thomas Tuchel will take over as the club’s new manager at the end of the season.

The 41 year-old was in charge at Mainz from 2009 until last year when he asked to be released from his contract. He’s spent the subsequent time on sabbatical.

While in charge of the club, Tuchel led them to two Europa League campaigns and their highest-ever league position and many sides sought his services, including Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke.

Tuchel will take over from Jurgen Klopp, who announced his intention to step down as Dortmund coach last week.

Ironically, Klopp spent his entire playing career at Mainz and then was there for seven years as manager too.

Dortmund’s troubles have been well-documented this season but another victory against Paderborn yesterday has pushed them to within a point of seventh place while they face Bayern Munich in the German Cup semi-finals on 28th April.
