THERE WAS GLORY for the Cork hurlers and the Roscommon footballers yesterday as they picked up provincial titles.

The Munster final win in Thurles was a personal triumph for Cork’s Alan Cadogan as he scored 1-4 from play to claim the man-of-the-match award ahead of team-mate Patrick Horgan and Clare’s Colm Galvin.

Douglas player Cadogan pounced for Cork’s only goal of the game in the 11th minute, had 1-2 to his name by half-time and added two further points after the break as Cork withstood a late Clare rally.

In Salthill, Boyle’s Enda Smith was central to Roscommon stunning Galway with his midfield display.

Smith claimed the man-of-the-match award with team-mates Niall Kilroy and Conor Devaney both nominated as well.

Analysis: Cadogan and Horgan are Cork’s weapons of mass destruction against wasteful Clare

‘We’re all Cork men. Munster medal on the field or off the field, it’s the same thing.’

Cullen is so so so good, should be premier league. 3 million was an absolute joke of a price

Watch out for dara costelloe….very impressive debut for a 19 year old….both feet ….missed one or two chances but on another day he could have scored a hat trick….gets into great positions….hope stephen kenny was watching ….I will watch his progress with interest….I agree too josh Cullen was a bargain at 3 million….Great game too

Young Costello has come a long way in a short time and he had a very impressive debut . Yes he missed one or two chances through being a tat anxious to score , but this will come with more game time . Best wishes to him going forward , and well done to kompany to give him a debut , but he sees this lad everyday and has that confidence in him .

@Tricksy: I’ve rarely seen a young kid who is completely comfortable on both feet….this gives him a huge advantage and yes…..well done to kompany for putting faith into a very young team….Burnley were amazing last night

@Seamus Kelly: This lad came through the local schoolboy grade in Limerick and went to England after his eighteenth birthday because of Brexit if I’m not mistaken ? But it’s probably not a bad thing being more mature going to a club either . Maybe previously , clubs were in a hurry to sign a lad with potential at a very young age for fear of missing out to another club .
