DESPITE THE STRONG opposition that was voiced when TG4′s decision to axe its Seó Spóirt programme was announced in February, the popular Friday evening show was broadcast for the final time last night.
A petition had been launched to save the show, which ran for the past 11 years and was presented by Kerry All-Ireland football winner Dara Ó Cinnéide, who took over Micheál Ó Domhnaill in 2009.
Nevertheless, TG4 pressed ahead with their decision and said farewell to Seó Spóirt last night, with many high-profile GAA figures expressing their disappointment and paying tribute to the show on social media.
Dublin footballer Ciarán Kilkenny, legendary GAA commentator Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh and Clare captain Gary Brennan were all part of the studio line-up.
