THE UNITED STATES were crowned Women’s World Cup winners last weekend after an emphatic 5-2 final win over Japan in Vancouver and they’ve been enjoying quite a week of celebrations.
On Friday, the squad stood on an open-topped bus in downtown New York as a ticker-tape parade was held in their honour – a rare treat for US female athletes.
And later that night, Taylor Swift invited the players along to her sold-out show in East Rutherford, New Jersey and brought them on-stage.
