Sunderland to rival Newcastle for Dundalk star Horgan - reports

David Moyes has been impressed with the performances of the 24-year-old, who is also on the radar of Rafa Benitez.

SUNDERLAND LOOK SET to beat their rivals Newcastle United to the signature of Daryl Horgan, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper reports that Sunderland have been monitoring Horgan for “several months” and that they are leading the race to capture the in-form Dundalk winger..

The 2016 PFAI Player of the Year who scored 10 goals for Dundalk in the League of Ireland this season, has caught the attention of clubs across Britain and further afield.

His form for Dundalk, particularly in the Europa League, earned him a call-up to Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland squad for the recent World Cup qualifier against Austria.

As well as Horgan, Sunderland are also said to be keen on Dundalk defender Andy Boyle, who was also included in the latest Ireland squad.
