Sunderland linked with moves for Robbie Brady and Shane Long

David Moyes is understood to be an admirer of the Republic of Ireland pair.

SUNDERLAND ARE CONSIDERING moves for Robbie Brady and Shane Long, according to reports.

With David Moyes keen to sign players with a proven track record in English football, the Daily Telegraph reports that the Irish pair are on the manager’s radar.

The Black Cats are currently bottom of the table on two points, and the club are expected to make reinforcements in January as they bid for Premier League survival.

Long enjoyed a fantastic season last year with Southampton, reaching double figures with his Premier League goalscoring tally for the first time in his career.

However, the 29-year-old Tipperary native has been out of favour under new boss Claude Puel this season, starting just three of the club’s eight Premier League games so far.

Meanwhile, Brady’s impressive performances at Euro 2016 saw him linked with a move to reigning Premier League champions Leicester, though Claudio Ranieri was understood to be put off by the 24-year-old’s price tag ultimately.

The Dubliner, who recently returned from a head injury, has contributed to Norwich’s impressive start to the campaign, with the Canaries currently second in the table.

The interest in the duo comes despite Long signing a new Saints contract in the summer, while Brady’s current deal with Norwich runs out in 18 months’ time.
