STORM DESMOND HAS wreaked havoc around the country over the past week.

But when heavy rainfall resulted in flooding in Cork as the River Lee burst its banks, Ireland’s top wakeboarder David O’Caoimh decided to take advantage of the rare opportunity.

The 21-year-old Dubliner went winching on Sunday and captured it on video.

He wrote on his Facebook page: “When Cork floods, I wakeboard. Thank you #StormDesmond”

Yes, he has done well, but I think he can only truly be judged next year. The advantage of only playing once a week was incredible. With that, and not sustaining any major injuries, no team in the league made less changes to its starting 11 week in week out. So, luck definitely had its part to play.
