Stoke City fan suffers heart-attack after Coutinho's late winner

The Potters fan is recovering in hospital after collapsing following the 86th minute goal.

A STOKE CITY fan collapsed and needed to be resuscitated by paramedics yesterday after Philippe Coutinho’s stunning long-range strike found the back of the net with just four minutes to go.

Stoke looked to be well on their way to securing a precious point when the little Brazilian found some space and produced a piece of sublime skill.

The unnamed fan was seated right behind Mark Hughes’ dugout and collapsed when the 86th minute winner went in. Nearby paramedics rushed to his aid and he is now recovering in hospital.

Premier League stars have taken to Twitter with ‘get well soon’ messages, including Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam.

“We had a call just before 5.50pm to a male cardiac arrest,” said a spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance service. “A community defibrillator was used at the stadium.”

“Two ambulances were sent out and he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. It was a successful resuscitation.”
