Stevie Ray has stepped in to save UFC Belfast's co-main event

Ray takes the fight against Ross Pearson on short notice.

SCOTLAND’S STEVIE RAY has answered the call for UFC Belfast.

Ross Pearson and James Krause had been scheduled to meet in the co-main event on 19 November but that bout was shelved when Krause pulled out with a torn hamstring on Wednesday.

Instead, Pearson will now face Ray who returns to the Octagon after suffering his first UFC defeat against Alan Patrick last month.

“I always prepare for my fights as if it’s going to be a war,” Ray said.

“It could be Fight of the Night and if I get a stoppage, even better.”

Krause’s withdrawal is the second injury-enforced change to the SSE Arena bill. Gunnar Nelson was originally scheduled to face Dong Hyun Kim in the five-round main event but was forced out of the fight with an ankle injury.

Gegard Mousasi v Uriah Hall 2 was subsequently set as the main event.
