STEVE FINNAN HAS finally broken his silence on Liverpool’s 2005 Champions League triumph.
The former Ireland international’s whereabouts became the subject of much speculation, after it became apparent that he would be the one member of the 2005 squad not to take part in the 10-year anniversary celebrations.
“I always say I changed the game that night,” he joked.
“If I hadn’t have got injured, we wouldn’t have won the European Cup.
“That injury I got was the best thing that ever happened to Liverpool.”
It was also confirmed that Finnan, who made over 200 appearances for the Reds and represented Ireland at the 2002 World Cup over the course of a stellar career, is living in London currently and runs a property business.
