FORMER IRELAND INTERNATIONAL Stephen Elliot has joined League of Ireland side Shelbourne on a short-term deal for the rest of the season.
The 32-year-old, who trained with Shamrock Rovers in January, has been without a club since leaving Carlisle United last year and will move to Tolka Park subject to international clearance.
The striker won nine caps for Ireland, making his debut against Croatia in November 2004. His only international goal came in a 1-0 win over Cyprus in a World Cup qualifier in October 2005.
Elliot began his career with Manchester City before stints with Sunderland, Wolves, Preston, Hearts, Coventry and then Carlisle.
The Dubliner trained with Rovers during pre-season but wasn’t handed a contract by Pat Fenlon.
Shelbourne, managed by Kevin Doherty, are currently sixth in the SSE Airtricity League First Division.
