A few Irish fans turned out for the start of Steph Roche's American adventure last night

Roche made her debut for the Houston Dash yesterday.

IT HAS BEEN an unbelievable few months for Steph Roche as she reaped the benefits of her screamer for Peamount United in the autumn of 2013. From mixing with football royalty at the Ballon d’Or ceremony to visiting the White House on St Patrick’s day, a lot of doors have been opened to Roche off the back of her sublime bit of skill.

One great opportunity that came her way was the chance to join the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League in America. After a big build-up, Roche finally made her debut last night against the Washington Spirit, coming off the bench in the 75th minute in a 2-0 win.

Reader Paul McEvoy and his friends Bernie Mooney, Sharon Tierney and Tiarnan Coffey was in attendance and sent in some great photos.

It isn’t the first time McEvoy has featured on The42 either. The Tipperary man and his friend Richie Whelan were somehow able to blag their way into the Super Bowl back in March.

Which leaves us to wonder how he got his hands on such good seats this time….

This is the most comical own goal you’re likely to see as ‘keeper produces almighty howler
