DARREN DENNEHY’S FIRST goal for St Patrick’s Athletic was enough to send them through to the second qualifying round of the Europa League despite suffering a 2-1 defeat tonight.
The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division side went into the second leg of their tie against Jeunesse Esch of Luxembourg with a 1-0 advantage thanks to Christy Fagan’s winner at Richmond Park a week ago.

However, that was cancelled out in Esch-sur-Alzette when Patrick Stumpf found the back of the net on 22 minutes.
Big centre-half Dennehy then restored their aggregate lead on 73 minutes — diverting home a corner from Keith Treacy.
And although Stumpf added a second for the home side with three minutes on the clock, Pat’s held out to progress on away goals.
To compound Jeunesse’s misery, defender Adrien Portier was sent off after picking up a second booking before the final whistle.
