The centre struck it sweetly but his attempt held up in the wind and fell agonisingly short as Clongowes held on to safely secure their place in the next round with a 31-29 win.
It was a thrilling finale to an end-to-end game which saw the momentum swing between the sides in-front of a large crowd at Donnybrook. In short, it was schools rugby at its very best.
Afterwards, Clongowes coach Brett Igoe admitted the better team lost.
