The LOI's top two clubs scored pretty special goals in the latest matchweek

Karl Sheppard and Stephen O’Donnell produced very different finishes, but both were things of beauty.

CORK CITY WENT nine points clear at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division on Friday night thanks to a 2-0 victory away to Bohemians.

Those present at Dalymount Park had been hailing Karl Sheppard’s wonderful volley from outside the box, and the rest of us got to marvel at it during last night’s installment of Soccer Republic.

Up in Oriel Park, the reigning champions Dundalk lost further ground on their title rivals after going down 3-1 to high-flying Bray Wanderers.

But the Lilywhites did score an expertly-worked goal. A sweeping passing move involving Chris Shields, Michael Duffy and David McMillan was finished off with a delicate chip from captain Stephen O’Donnell.
