De Klerk debut, 10 shirt for Lambie in Springbok side to take on Ireland

Allister Coetzee has named eight of the team who beat Argentina to third at the World Cup.

SOUTH AFRICA HEAD coach Allister Coetzee has named one debutant in his first Test line-up for Saturday’s meeting with Ireland in Cape Town [KO 4pm].

Golden Lions Scrum-half Faf de Klerk will win his first cap at Newlands with Sharks playmaker Patrick Lambie named in the number 10 jersey.

There is a first start for Lionel Mapoe who takes a midfield berth alongside Damian de Allende while Jesse Kriel drops to the bench.

New captain Adriaan Strauss – a cousin of Ireland and Leinster hooker Richardt – will pack down between Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira and Frans Malherbe while hoping to make back-up hooker Bongi Mbonambi wait for his Test debut.

A fractured finger hampered Elton Jantjies’ preparation for this series and he will hope to mark himself out as Coetzee’s first-choice out-half when he is sprung from the bench.
