CORK MIDDLEWEIGHT GARY ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan will provide chief support to Billy Joe Saunders’ WBO World middleweight title defence versus David Lemieux in Laval, Quebec, Canada on 16 December.
The 33-year-old puncher, whose record stands at 26-2 with 18 KOs, will trade leather with American contender Antoine Douglas [22-1-1, 16 KOs] at Place Bell in a 10-round co-main event.

Douglas, promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy, suffered his sole defeat to Georgian Avtandil Khurtsidze last year, but is ranked #7 with the WBO and #9 with both the WBA and the WBC.
O’Sullivan, from Mahon, impressed with a fourth-round destruction of Liverpool’s Nick Quigley in Boston back in September. The entertaining scrap headlined a Golden Boy on ESPN bill, and saw ‘Spike’s stock rise Stateside.
The Celtic Warrior fighter’s two career defeats have arrived versus Saunders, who headlines versus Lemieux next month, and Chris Eubank Jr. but
O’Sullivan’s victory over Quigley was a career-highlight display on the back of numerous proclamations that he was in the best physical condition of his career, and victory over Douglas will propel him into world title contention.
