Sligo and Harps no longer in the dark as FAI say floodlight failure 'draw' will stand

Showgrounds clash was abandoned after 86 minutes with the sides level.

SATURDAY’S ABANDONED AIRTRICITY League match between Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps has been declared a draw.

Floodlight failure at the Showgrounds forced the Premier Division clash to be abandoned after 86 minutes with the sides level at 1-1.

Rather than order the match to be replayed in its entirety, league director Fran Gavin confirmed on Monday that the scoreline would stand as the final result.

Chris Lyons headed Sligo into the lead early in the first half but Damien McNulty volleyed in Harps’ equaliser on 83 minutes before the power outage forced referee Padraigh Sutton to stop the match moments later.

    The match is on at TG4 not rte. Rte are showing grass grow for an hour and a half
