SKY SPORTS LAUNCHED their 2015 GAA coverage yesterday in London and anyone familiar with last year’s debut by the broadcaster will have noticed something familiar about the intro to their live GAA games.
When Sky Sports came to deciding on their GAA intro, they looked at a TV show broadcast by another Sky channel for inspiration.
It’s no accident that it looks similar to the intro to ‘Game of Thrones’.

Sky Sports Director of Production Steve Smith explained the thinking behind the move.
“We like the music, we like the feel and wanted to incorporate the kingdoms feel with the county badges. If you look at our title sequence, it’s very much sort of modeled on the title sequence of the Game of Thrones.
“We asked our team to come up with something like that.”
