FRENCH RUGBY LEAGUE referee Benjamin Casty was left with a broken jaw after he issued a red card during a Junior Cup match in Perpignan last weekend.
As a result of the attack and subsequent brawl, the French Cup semi-final meeting between Saint-Esteve and Toulouse was abandoned with just 25 minutes on the clock and Casty was rushed to hospital. It has subsequently emerged that he suffered a broken jaw.

As a result of the attack and subsequent brawl, the French Cup semi-final meeting between Saint-Esteve and Toulouse was abandoned with just 25 minutes on the clock and Casty was rushed to hospital. It has subsequently emerged that he suffered a broken jaw.
Perpignan-based L’Independent reported that the player had just returned from suspension before the incident.
On Tuesday, Casty posted an image of himself from the match, saying: “It could be my last game, but it will not.”
