SHELBOURNE HAVE COME up with an novel initiative to attract fans to their ground later this month.

Ahead of the League of Ireland’s recommencement, the club are inviting supporters to the Tolka Park Bar for afternoon tea — more specifically, Long Island Ice Tea.
Of course, this is not the first time of late that Shels have been gaining attention for tea-related reasons.
“The club have recently taken over the running of the bar,” a spokesperson told The42. “We’ve tried to think of ways to get people back using the bar on a regular basis. One of the ideas they came up with is this afternoon tea.
“The twist is that it’s not actually afternoon tea, given that it’s alcoholic — it’s sandwiches and cocktails and things like that.
“But I suppose it is a wink and a nod towards the events of last year, where we unfortunately didn’t have tea to serve for people one night.
“We’ve already had lots of interest, so hopefully it will be a success.”
The event takes place on 21 February from 5-8pm, with a “special gift” promised to all those who buy a cocktail.
