The Derry native suffered a fractured metatarsal during Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Championship, although he went on to play the full 90 minutes.

Seagulls manager Chris Hughton has revealed that Duffy will undergo an operation tomorrow meaning he is set for a minimum of six weeks on the sidelines.

The Boys in Green, currently top of Group D, face third-placed Wales at the Aviva Stadium on 24 March. Ireland boss Martin O’Neill names his squad in Dublin next Monday but Duffy now joins the suspended Robbie Brady on the unavailable list.
