A SUBLIME HAT-TRICK from Christian Eriksen sent Denmark to the World Cup on Tuesday night, as Ireland fell 5-1 at the Aviva Stadium.
Martin O’Neill’s side had taken an early lead when Shane Duffy headed his side in front after just six minutes.
However two goals in the space of three minutes, the first an own goal from Cyrus Christie, the second a stunning effort off the crossbar from Eriksen, gave the visitors a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
Eriksen added two more after the interval to complete his rout before substitute Nicklas Bendtner added a late penalty, with the 5-1 defeat meaning Ireland have failed to qualify for a World Cup finals for the fourth time in succession.
