HE IS A superb defender and a terrific leader for Real Madrid but even though Sergio Ramos lifted another Champions League trophy tonight, his involvement in an incident late on in the clash with Juventus left a lot to be desired.
With the game done and dusted and his side on their way to a second-successive European Cup, Ramos dived in and made a magnificent challenge on Juve substitute Juan Cuadrado. When the Colombian raced to collect the ball and take a throw-in, he hurriedly brushed Ramos aside, inadvertently caught him with his studs and went to try and restart the game as quickly as possible.

But Ramos theatrically dived to the ground, feigning injury and gesticulating wildly.
Marcelo quickly arrived on the scene and gestured dramatically to the linesman that something untoward had happened.
And, quite inexplicably, referee Felix Brych was fooled. He showed Cuadrado a second yellow and Juventus – already in the mire and desperately trying to chase things – were down to 10 men, their job made all the more difficult by Ramos and his blatant cheating.
