Aguero signed a five-year deal with City in August 2014 which would see him stay with the club until the end of the 2018-19 season.
But speaking to radio station Independient en la Uno, the striker appeared to suggest he would return to Argentina after the tournament in Russia in 2018.
“In the last few months a lot of things have been said about a new contract, but I didn’t pay any attention,” he said.
It’s clear to me that when my contract ends, after the World Cup, I’m going to Independiente.
