Man City wait until the very last moment before trying to get Sergio Aguero off the hook

It’s a long-shot but the Argentine could still be available for the local derby against United.

MANCHESTER CITY HAVE decided to challenge the violent conduct charge levelled at their striker Sergio Aguero but waited until the very last-minute to lodge an appeal.

The Argentine striker was found to have elbowed West Ham’s Winston Reid during a Premier League clash last Sunday.

The incident wasn’t spotted by referee Andre Marriner but Aguero was later charged by the Football Association.

If found guilty, he’ll be slapped with a three-game ban and will miss the Manchester derby on 10 September.

He’ll also be forced to sit out the league fixture with Bournemouth and an EFL Cup clash against Swansea.

The 28-year-old had been given until 5pm today to contest the charge and City lodged their appeal just before the deadline.
