It was a point apiece for Wales and Serbia amid a closely fought World Cup qualifier.

Gareth Bale’s powerful strike from the edge of the area gave Wales a first-half lead, but Aleksandar Mitrović’s late goal ensured a share of the spoils.

That result, coupled with Ireland’s 1-0 win over Austria earlier, means the Boys in Green will end 2016 as Group D leaders.

Meanwhile, in today’s other game in the group, Georgia and Moldova drew 1-1, with Alexandru Gațcan’s 78th-minute strike cancelling out Valeri Qazaishvili’s early opener.
