Some of Sepp Blatter's biggest critics arrested in Qatar

WDR claim officials erased data from the journalists’ electronic equipment.

JOURNALISTS REPRESENTING GERMAN broadcasting networks ARD and WDR have been arrested and detained by the Qatari government while shooting a documentary about the corruption allegedly associated with the country’s winning bid for the 2022 World Cup.

WDR claim officials erased data from the journalists’ electronic equipment and detained them in the country for several days.

Florian Bauer said on Twitter that he was one of the journalists in question working on the documentary, entitled ‘The Selling of Football — Sepp Blatter and the Power of FIFA,’ and has suggested the reporters had uncovered incriminating bank documents.

The journalists have since been released after the Qatari foreign minister allowed them to leave.

Hey Sepp. These people are trying to drag you down. Call the lads in Qatar and have them arrested. That’s better; now you can get back to healing the world with football through your awesome ambassadorial skills. Sepp don’t ever retire -the worlds needs you.

Wouldnt it be great if one country stood up and stated their intention of boycotting this world cup. It would be even better if they did in now rather than in five yrs time when the money has been pocketed and the slaves have built the stadiums

You can’t have a world cup without Germany.

This is that fate that is in store for any football fans speaking out against Qatar during the world cup….. Gay players and fans should stay away for their own safety.

Firstly not condoning the awarding of the World Cup to Qatar as it’s completely absurd , but your comment about gay players and fans being cautious here is obviously completely based on myth , you have obviously never been to qatar if thats what you think , nevermind the gays its the lack of other nations cultural behaviours is what they will struggle with most i.e alcohol consumption , crowd segregation and mingling with the 15% of the population of qatar which is qatari . Not surprised about what happened to the lads as the qataris are completly oblivious to the perceptions of anyone outside the GCC

You’re right Luke, I haven’t been there nor will I ever.

Currently it is illegal to be gay Qatar meaning any gay players or fans could face prison(or death if they are Muslim) if they they are found to be gay while in Qatar.

This gulf states have a habit of convincing tourists they are in a normal progressive country where they are actually not.

Well I do live here and there are openly gay men working in customer service here everywhere , as I said I totally disagree with the awarding of the WC to Qatar for logistical reasons alone but constantly hearing armchair protestors back home bugs the life out me , you havent been here so stop making statements you cant back up

Its good to see Irish people turning their backs on their morals and living in( and defending)a country that basically supports slave labor.

Again your complete lack of knowledge of this region raises its ignorant head !!! The Middle eastern countries have been using Asian labour as slaves for a hell of a long time before Q22 was awarded but you would know that wouldn’t you sitting on your couch at home , the shame of it is that they are only being acknowldeged by armchair warriors like you when fifa arrived , you didnt care about them before that did you ????
