Maguire follows up Ireland debut with a goal and assist for Preston

The former Cork City striker scored his third of the season against Fulham before coming off injured.

IT’S BEEN QUITE the few days for Seanie Maguire.

Last Friday, the ex-Cork City striker was handed his senior international debut in Ireland’s 2-0 win over Moldova at the Aviva Stadium.

The 23-year-old’s first cap came less than a year on from his winning goal in the FAI Cup final at the same venue.

He may not have got on when Ireland defeated Wales in Cardiff three days later, but the experience of being on the bench for such a massive occasion will undoubtedly stand to him.

Maguire returned to club duties this afternoon as promotion-chasing Preston North End travelled to London to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.

On 18 minutes, Maguire set up Jordan Hugill to open up the scoring for the visitors. He then bagged his third Championship goal since joining in July on 25 minutes.

Unfortunately, Maguire took a knock minutes later and was forced off just after the half-hour mark. The game finished 2-2.

Let’s hope Maguire’s injury isn’t serious.
