After striking out in England, Sean St Ledger has been given a lifeline in America

St Ledger is on trial with an MLS club.

THE LAST FEW months have been tough for Sean St Ledger. The former Ireland defender was released by Leicester at the end of last season and then by Ipswich a few weeks ago.

Many speculated that St Ledger might try to join an MLS team and that’s exactly what he has done. DC United, who are based in Washington, have taken St Ledger on trial as they begin their pre-season training.

It’s good to see St Ledger back with a team after being cut by Mick McCarthy the day after his 30th birthday in December.

Maybe if he heads home a few crosses like this during pre-season DC United will keep him around long-term.
