THERE WAS CONCERN among Cork City fans earlier when star striker Sean Maguire was stretchered off the field during their friendly game against Waterford.
“Maguire taken out by a late, really poor challenge that has angered his team mates,” the football club tweeted off their official account after the incident.

“Sean Maguire’s ok,” he told reporters. “Obviously a scandalous challenge, and the problem with a match like this is it’s supposed to be a friendly but you could see he went out to do Seanie, that was horrendous.”
“Thankfully, Seanie saw at the last minute and he tried to skip it. He’ll be sore for a few days, but thankfully it’s nothing serious.
“It was a blatant sending-off, and a severe ban if you looked at it properly.”
Thankfully, his injuries are not as serious as first thought — a bruised shin.
“Latest is that he has suffered severe bruising, thankfully nothing more serious,” Cork City said on their Facebook page shortly after the match.

“Maguire taken out by a late, really poor challenge that has angered his team mates,” the football club tweeted off their official account after the incident.
A yellow card was shown to the Waterford player in question, a decision unfavoured by Cork players, fans and of course the manager John Caulfield.
He spoke to CorkCityFC.ie after the match, with the audio broadcast on the Big Red Bench on Redfm this evening.
