Sligo Rovers have signed 57-time Estonian international Sander Puri

The 26-year-old played against Ireland in the Euro 2012 play-off in Dublin.

SLIGO ROVERS have this evening confirmed the signing of Estonian attacker Sander Puri, who’ll join them subject to international clearance.

Puri, a 26-year-old who has been capped 57 times, played for Estonia against the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in November 2011.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw and secured Ireland’s place at Euro 2012, as Giovanni Trapattoni’s side won the the tie on aggregate following a 4-0 first-leg win in Tallinn.

Puri also played in Dublin in 2008 when he lined out for Levadia Tallinn against Drogheda United at Dalymount Park in a first-round Champions League qualifier.

He joins Sligo having been released by English League Two side York City at the end of last season. Puri has also had spells with St Mirren in Scotland, KuPs in Finland and Larissa in Greece.

Puri impressed for Sligo Rovers in a friendly against Shelbourne yesterday.
