Horan, O'Connell, Phelps and Shevchenko take to the fairways for Ryder Cup celebrity scramble

The celebs were out in force at Hazeltine.

BEFORE THE SERIOUS business gets underway on Friday, the Hazeltine patrons were treated to some cordial competition yesterday as actors, singers and footballers took to the fairways for the Ryder Cup Celebrity Scramble.

Among those taking part were Niall Horan, Paul O’Connell, Michael Phelps, Alessandro Del Piero and Andriy Shevchenko.

With both America and Europe heading out for practice sessions later in the day, the grandstands at Hazeltine National were packed to greet the 16 celebrities for the second staging of the match.

It was, however, all a bit one-sided with USA proving too strong as they romped to victory.
