BARRY GERAGHTY MADE it a Grade one double at the Fairyhouse Easter Festival as Kylemore Lough upset the odds to claim the Ryanair Gold Cup Novice Chase.
The Kerry Lee trained horse, with Geraghty aboard, made it five wins in his last six chase starts to pip Outlander to the post in the two-and-a-half-mile feature race of Easter Sunday’s card.
The pair jumped the last together but it was Kylemore Lough who finished strongly down the home straight to earn a landmark Grade one victory for Lee.

“It’s fantastic,” Lee said afterwards. “I never had a runner in a Grade One until today and Kylemore Lough battled hard to win with Barry using all his expertise to pull it off.
“Jamie [Moore] also deserves a lot of credit as he’s done a massive amount of work with the horse and recommended Barry when he was unable to ride himself because of injury.
“If the ground is right and not too quick Kylemore Lough will come back to Ireland and run at Punchestown next month.”
It capped a fine day for Geragthy after he had earlier ridden Jer’s Girl to victory in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Novice Hurdle Championship Final.
Gavin Cromwell’s filly made no mistake to romp to a comfortable, and emphatic victory, in the day’s other Grade one feature.
Meanwhile, the Sandra Hughes trained Acapella Bourgeois landed the Agnelli Motor Park Novice Hurdle.
