Babel on Rafa's Madrid move: 'He'll make Ronaldo a great defender'

The Dutchman, who was signed by Benitez at Liverpool, isn’t expecting fireworks from his former manager in the Spanish capital.

WILL RAFA BENITEZ be able to guide Real Madrid back to glory in La Liga? Maybe another Champions League win?

Ryan Babel isn’t holding his breath.

The Dutchman fell out with Benitez during his time at Liverpool and has now launched a little dig at his former manager, who is the front-runner to succeed Carlo Ancelotti after announcing that he will leave Napoli at the end of the season.

Babel was signed by Benitez for £11.5 million in 2007 but managed only 65 starts in 146 appearances during his four seasons at Anfield before being sold by Kenny Dalglish in January 2011.

The 28-year-old, who now plays for Turkish side Kasimpasa, apologised to Benitez in 2010 after criticising the Spaniard on Twitter for giving him “no explanation” after he was left out of a matchday squad to face Stoke City.
