Can't watch 'em all? The key World Cup fixtures to watch this weekend

11 games down and all 20 teams will have played by tonight. Here’s the games you can’t miss this weekend.

THERE’S ANOTHER GREAT 640 minutes of international rugby ahead of us this weekend as the World Cup opens up its stride in England.

But we understand that committing over 12 hours to watching rugby in your limited weekend time isn’t always a goer. Sometimes it’s a bit overwhelming to try and juggle your rugby family with the real life people who start to worry when you bore a groove in to the couch.

So we’re here to help you decide which games to prioritise between now and Sunday, and which you might have to catch on the highlights wrap.

Book a seat, watch it live

Friday 16.45: Argentina v Georgia

As long as you remember to plonk yourself in front of a nice big TV screen by 16.45 Friday through Sunday you should get all the good stuff.

Mamuka Gorgodze’s Georgia, fresh from beating Tonga, now turn their attention to an Argentina side who should be high on confidence after scaring the All Blacks. Just to be clear: we’re all rooting for Georgia here. We want Ireland to top Pool D and the Pumas to either miss out altogether or to get seriously worn down by the time we get to mid October.

Saturday 16.45: South Africa v Samoa

Will Samoa sense blood in the water? The mighty Springboks couldn’t possibly lose again, could they?

Tune in to find out if another Pacific Island can take down the giants of the sport or if the ‘Boks will throw their weight around to get their tournament back on track.

Saturday 20.00: England v Wales

The big one. With all due respect to Fiji, this is the first clash between serious contenders in the Pool of Death.

Rugby Union - RBS Six Nations - England v Wales - Twickenham David Davies David Davies

Both sides have five points after their opening match, but defeat will be an enormous blow to their hopes of clawing their way out of Pool A.

Sunday 16.45: Ireland v Romania

Game two for Ireland and Romania’s pack promises to offer a tougher test than the Canada side run ragged on Saturday. Joe Schmidt will make changes from the side who ran up 50 points last weekend though, so we’ll patiently wait until the second half before demanding a bonus point.

Press record for…

Tonight:

New Zealand v Namibia, 8pm

Saturday:

Italy v Canada, 2.30pm

Sunday:

Australia v Uruguay, 12pm

Scotland v USA, 14.30
