2019 Rugby World Cup to be broadcast in Ireland by Eir Sport with 13 games free-to-air

The tournament is being held in Japan.

THE 2019 RUGBY WORLD Cup will be broadcast in Ireland by Eir Sport with 13 games set to be free-to-air, including Ireland’s matches and all the ties in the knockout stages of the tournament.

The announcement was made this morning in Dublin when it was revealed that Eir Sport has been launched, as part of a rebranding that sees it replace Setanta Sports.

It’s a notable broadcasting move by Eir since its acquisition of Setanta Sports Ireland.

The 2019 RWC is one of several rugby tournaments that will be broadcast on the channels.

Rugby

  • 2019 Men’s Rugby World Cup
  • 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup
  • The U20′s Championship from 2017-2019
  • The 2018 Rugby Sevens World Cup

“We are delighted to have secured all the Republic of Ireland rights to the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan,” stated Eir Sport CEO Mickey O’Rourke.

“We broadcast all 48 games live in 2007 and 2011 and it’s great to know we will be doing the same again in 2019.

“We are very thankful to World Rugby for entrusting us with these rights along with the U20′s Championship, the Women’s World Cup and Sevens rights.”
