AS THE DUST settles on last night’s victory, attention will have already turned to Lyon for Martin O’Neill and his troops as they prepare to face France in the last 16.
Such is the nature of tournament football, there is little time to revel in the achievement of a famous win but instead keep the head firmly screwed on and focus on the next challenge.
That challenge comes in the form of the hosts, and pre-tournament favourites, in Lyon this Sunday in what will be Ireland’s first ever European Championship knockout fixture.
The excitement is already palpable as the tournament reaches the business end of proceedings with the next round of games beginning on Saturday.
Across three mouth-watering days of football, the cream of European football look to book their place in the quarter-finals and move one step closer to lifting the Henri Delaunay Trophy next month.
The schedule was confirmed last night and now we know where we can watch all eight last 16 ties.
TV3 will show three games, including Italy v Spain on Monday afternoon, while RTÉ will have live coverage of the big one on Sunday.
Harry Redknapp and Neil Lennon will join Tommy Martin for TV3′s coverage, which has reached over 2.6 million viewers so far.
